The NC State Fair is finally here!

The Fair, the fair, the unforgettable fair! Well it's finally here, the North Carolina State Fair kicks off today at 3pm and runs through Sunday, October 24th. With only one day (opening day) scheduled for rain showers, this year's fair should have plenty of comfortable fall days for people to enjoy.


I got a chance to go out to the fair on Wednesday to grab some grub as many do the day before. I noticed several new food oddities that's being sold: Deep fried Chips Ahoy cookies, Deep Fried Pecan Pie, Kool-Aid pickles, and Krispy Kreme bacon cheeseburgers! Not sure if any of these come with pepto bismol, but one would certainly hope so!! I'll just stick to my roasted corn and footlong chili dogs.     


If you're thinking I don't have a deal for you, think again. Get in the fair FREE on Thursday 10/21 for the annual Food Lion Hunger Relief Day where you get FREE admission for bringing out just 4 canned goods to donate to the food bank. Last year brought in almost 223,000 lbs of food. Let's see if that record can't be broken this year with your help! 


There's also Military Appreciation Day on Wednesday 10/20 which allows Active duty, reserve and National Guard service members or spouses with valid military ID to be admitted free along with four guests. The day will also feature special activities and concerts to recognize and show support to our service men and women.
