Meal Deal Monday: Harris Teeter

Harris Teeter has a promotion that they do where you can purchase an entire meal for usually under $10. The first one I did was back in June with the Rosina Meatballs special. How it works is that you purchase "x" number of items and get "x" number of items free to make a complete meal.

In June I participated in the Meal Deal by purchasing and receiving:

• Buy 32oz Rosina Meatballs 
• Get Free...
• 13oz Celentano cheese Ravioli
• 24oz Newman's own pasta sauce
• 11oz Pepperidge Farms Garlic Texas Toast
• one 2 liter Pepsi product
• Total cost was $7.75 which saved at least $10.42 before taxes

This week I choose to purchase the breakfast special:

• Buy 12oz Hormel Bacon and 12oz Johnsonville breakfast links
• Get free...
• 1 dz HT Grade A large eggs
• 1/2 gallon HT premium orange juice
• 20oz Simply Potatoes hash browns
• 6ct HT english muffins
•  Total cost was 8.99 saving at least $8.26 before taxes...but then there were coupons!
• On the Hormel bacon was coupon for .40 off Pillsbury grands biscuits.
• they were on sale some $2 for two and some $2 for four
• there was a "blinkie coupon" to get .75 off three
• there was a in store "penquin coupon" for the simply potatoes $1 off two
• that brought my total cost with taxes to only $13.34
• BUT WAIT THERE'S STILL MORE...
• I recently purchased a newspaper subscription and received a $10 HT card
• I transferred a prescription to HT and got $20 added to my vic card
• OUT OF POCKET COST FOR THIS WAS NOTHING. 

I would say this turned out to be a great combination of watching your budget by participating in coupning, promotions and sales at places you were going to shop anyway. Thanks to the great staff at the 1151 Tryon Village Drive location for their customer service each time I shop. They know me almost by name now! But they always make sure their customers get all the qualifying purchases, and in this case mine today were FREE!

PAWS Product Testing: HALO Spots Stew

The little "fur-girl" usually gets a special canned food meal on most holiday's. So in accordance with celebrating Easter, she enjoyed lamb by way of HALO Purely For Pets natural pet care products. "Madame snack-a-lot" certainly enjoyed hers, all you could hear was "nom, nom, nom". She e stayed glued to that bowl of Spot's Stew Wholesome Lamb Recipe until there wasn't a drop left. When finally coming up for air, tips of her curly ears had a faint aroma of a meal done right!

Pillsbury  be adventurous and try one of the Bake-Off® finalist's recipes. They're competing for a $1 Million Grand Prize.

Local Events

North Hills Mall  In Raleigh is having a Scavenger Hunt with the Easter Bunny. You can win prizes, contests, and giveaways from MIX 101.5 and the many shops and restaurants at the mall. Saturday, April 3rd starting at 12pm on the Commons.

Crossroads Plaza The annual Cary Egg Hunt with the Easter Bunny is on Saturday, April 3rd from 10am - 1pm.

Moore Square Egg Hunt Raleigh's biggest and best! Saturday, April 3rd, 10:30am. Over 10,000 eggs for kids in four separated hunts for kids of all ages. Visit the Main Tent marked with the large "Raleigh Easter" sign to receive a gift bag. There will be live music, balloons, inflatables, and of course candy. ALL FREE!!!  If you don't live too far away, this is a great time to visit downtown Raleigh.

Little Sprouts Storytime  Celebrate Spring with "Tales of Peter Rabbit" at the A.E. Finley Education Center,  Mon, April 5, 10am – 11am. Learn about the fuzzy critters that make the park their home, play games and make a craft.

Dining and Delivery 

Ruby Tuesday sent me a 25% coupon to use on Easter only. The code was unique to my membership or I'd post it. Check for locations that serve Sunday brunch and sign up with them to get your coupon!

Brasa Brazillian Steakhouse in Brier Creek is having their annual Easter Brunch from 11am - 3pm. I've only been for lunch & dinner,so this seems like a good time to try their brunch service.

The Duck & Dumpling In downtown Raleigh is having their first-ever brunch with a twist including spicy basil duck, tofu pad thai and tropical fruit platters. Sunday, April 3rd from 11am. to 3pm. I've only been there for lunch, but it was wonderful!

P.F. Chang's has a special prix-fixe menu for two. Find your location and make a reservation.

Easter isn't just for kids!

Dickey's Barbecue Pit - It's not too late to order a boneless smoked honey ham! Durham and Cary will be open 11a-4p on Easter. Kids always eat free on Sunday so find your closest location.
