Have you seen the map?
Already it's filling up with blue doves, representing the amazing self-esteem activities being planned by women all over the country - real women just like you who want to inspire the girls in their lives to reach their full potential.
All across the country, moms and daughters are pledging to spend time together making scrapbooks, discussing role models, and providing the next generation of women with the tools to build a positive relationship with beauty during the weekend of October 22-24.
To make this the biggest day of self-esteem activity anyone has ever seen, various partners, grassroots organizations and real women come together to make a difference in the self-esteem of those we love the most. But Dove needs your help - will you commit to spending one hour with a girl in your life?

Remember 9/11 on it's 9th Anniversary
Can you believe that we will commemorate on Saturday, September 11th the nine-year anniversary of 9/11? While politicians and pundits continue to argue about the "Ground Zero Mosque," New Yorkers will come together to honor and remember the victims of September 11th at various events in Manhattan and around the nation. Please remember all those who lost or gave their lives on that tragic day. And let's celebrate the survivors, the armed forces, and the victim's families.

No Deal: Bank Account Overdraft Protection
Banks want to rip you with "account overdraft protection" -- don't fall for it!!
The American Bankers Association finds that almost half of all people surveyed have signed up for (or intend to sign up for) overdraft account protection. That's a real testimony to how convincing the solicitations from the banks have been for this "service."
As previously reported, on August 15 the banks and credit unions became required to ask for permission to rip you off by allowing debit card charges in excess of your available balance.
Don't believe the hype about overdraft protection! You don't want to opt in for this so-called "protection." Protection from what? It's much better to be denied your $2 coffee purchase at the register when you have no money in your account than to get the coffee and be hit with nearly $40 in overdraft charges.
Ultimately, it's your responsibility to make sure you have money in your account. Carry a calculator and/or check register and record your purchases as you go. Just do whatever it takes to gets the job done -- as long as it's not opting in for overdraft protection!

PAWS Alert: Today is National Dog Day!!!
From Dr. Jon...
It's National Dog Day! (There is a holiday for everything, isn't there?) August 26th marks the nation's annual celebration of dogs. It is a way to show public recognition for all of the wonderful things about our dogs and to celebrate their love, companionship, loyalty, patience and their amazing capacity to change our everyday lives.
When I think about dogs, I think about certain moments in my life where a dog has really touched me. There are lots of moments. Times when maybe you are a bit down, having a bad day or just touched by your dog's loyalty and compassion. One dog that I truly loved was "Bones". This dog was a stray mutt - skin and bones when he came to my door. I think he had some German Shepherd in him as well as several other breeds. Anyway, Bones had a way of coming over to you - putting his head on your knee and looking at you with eyes that almost seemed to penetrate your soul. When I would look down into his eyes - I'd melt. How can you not smile and give him a pat - at which he immediately wagged his tail as hard as he could. Do you know what I'm talking about?
