Food Lion and the NC State Fair passed their goal last Thursday. The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina received 246,779 lbs of food from fairgoers! This was an increase of almost 10,000 pounds over last year setting a new Food Lion Hunger Relief Day collection record! The food donations are equivalent to more than 200,000 meals. According to other record counts, that's equal to 27 African elephants, 20 monster trucks or a Boeing 747!
