October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we can celebrate that we have come a long way in our fight against this disease. When Susan G. Komen for the Cure started more than 30 years ago, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer confined to the breast was just 74 percent. Today, that survival rate is 98 percent.
In spite of this success, there is still tremendous work to be done. Please join Komen NC Triangle in our promise to end breast cancer forever by participating in some exciting upcoming events. Whether you do one or do them all, you, your friends and your family can have a great time while supporting the fight against breast cancer.

Go PINK for the Cure at the NC State Fair
October 21 - 24
From October 21 – 24, the Komen On the Go signature bright pink bus will be at the NC State Fair. This fun, hands-on experience features computer kiosks full of information on the breast cancer movement, life-saving recommendations about breast self awareness, inspirational videos, and a “graffiti wall” for sharing memories or pledging support for the cause.
Help raise awareness and wear PINK on Saturday, October 23rd for thefirst ever Go Pink for the Cure day at the NC State Fair. We have a special incentive for the first 500 people wearing Pink to come by the Komen on the Go bus (near gate 9). Hope to see you there!
While you’re at the fair on be sure to check out the King Action Sports Stunt Show as they perform on the largest PINK ramp park in the U.S. Survivors, the Saturday, 5pm show is dedicated to you so bring your friends, and your family out to this amazing high energy performance. |
