Lowe's Grove Middle School in Durham is among the finalists for a giveaway contest from Big Lots. Up for grabs: a $10,000 grand prize.

Schools were invited to submit a video and 50-word essay about why they could use the prize money. Now it's up to the public to pick from among the finalists.

You can vote up to three times a day through July 5 at www.lots2give.com. The Lowe's Grove video is about halfway down on the page. One school will win the $10,000 grand prize and 45 schools will receive a $2,000 prize. Winners will be announced on Aug. 14.
